Places to Go
Bracken House Hotel is on the western edge of Exmoor National Park – a beautiful kaleidoscope of deep wooded combes, sparkling rivers and heather moorland bounded by a dramatic hogs-backed coastline. Here you can expect to see hardy Exmoor ponies, soaring buzzards, nesting fulmars and, possibly the common but elusive red deer. There are wonderful walks for all, however serious or casual.
Woody Bay
Nearby is Arlington Court, former home of the Chichester family. The National Trust also own several scenic properties including Watersmeet, Woody Bay and Heddons Mouth and substantial tracts of magnificent coastline. Further afield are Selworthy, Dunster Castle, Knightshayes Court, Killerton, and Castle Drogo.

Gardeners can have several field days viewing the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Dr Smart's lifetime creation at Marwood Hill, and the lovely Docton Mill at Hartland.
There are many places to visit for all interests. Lynton & Lynmouth are connected by the wonderful water-powered cliff railway. Nearby is the Valley of Rocks, a glacial valley, now home to a colony of feral goats. Barnstaple, the main town of North Devon, has a thriving Pannier Market. You may like to visit Dartington Crystal, Badgworthy Water and Doone Country, Tarr Steps, Porlock Weir, and many more beautiful places.

The more active can enjoy horseriding on the moor whilst the less active can enjoy the magnificent beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton. Or you can take a seat overlooking the pond, admire the view, watch a buzzard, and wait for dinner.
