Dogs
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at a charge of £3 per night or £12 per week.
Bracken House is very suitable for responsible dogs with well-trained owners. We have several small paddocks. Whilst some of them may contain sheep, there are always two or three empty ones. The little path through our woodland and the drive to the road make good, short, early and late walks.
Dogs are allowed in your bedroom as long as you are present. We have had a few problems in the past when dogs have been left in rooms. Even dogs that are very well behaved in your company can become anxious and destructive when left alone in a strange environment. We suggest that they are left in cars at meal times unless you are very confident about their behaviour and accept responsibility for any damage.
They are also welcome to be with you in the library and drawing room if their temperament is suitable and they do not inconvenience other guests. It is best to keep dogs on leads indoors, or at least under close control.
Bracken Roost, our self-catering cottage, is particularly suitable for dogs as it has its own small but fairly secure garden as well as access to the paddocks. Dogs should not be left alone in the cottage except in exceptional circumstances and by prior arrangement.
We are very pleased to have quite a few regular canine guests (most of whom get on well together!) and we are keen that they, too, should enjoy their holiday.
